Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most prevalent form of arthritis, characterized by the gradual degeneration of articular cartilage which happens with age. This degeneration leads to joint pain, stiffness, reduced mobility, and inflammation. OA commonly affects weight-bearing joints such as the knees, hips, and spine, and is most prevalent in adults over the age of 50. However, younger individuals can also develop OA due to factors like previous joint injuries, repetitive stress, obesity, or genetic predisposition.
Osteoarthritis progresses through four stages :-
Stage 1 :- Minor
Slight wear-and-tear of cartilage.
Joint space is still normal.
Small bone spurs (osteophytes) may begin to form.
Stage 2 :- Mild
Cartilage starts to break down.
Joint space may begin to narrow.
Bone spurs become more noticeable on X-rays.
Stage 3 :- Moderate
Cartilage shows clear damage and thinning.
Joint space is visibly reduced.
Increased bone spur growth.
Stage 4 :- Severe
Cartilage is nearly or completely gone.
Bones rub directly against each other.
Joint becomes deformed or misaligned.
The Real Story: Move Better, Not Less
Have you been told by your doctor to “avoid stairs,” “don’t sit on the floor,” or “stop putting weight on your knees”? While these suggestions may be well-meaning, they often lead to more fear, less movement — and worse outcomes.
At Rehab Station, we believe pain is not the end of your journey. In fact, it’s the beginning of understanding what your body really needs.
Yes, osteoarthritis means joint wear and tear — but that doesn’t mean you stop using your joints altogether.
Has anyone really assessed your joint mobility, strength, and how efficiently your body moves?
Most people can still climb stairs, get up from low chairs, and walk better if they’re taught the right way and supported with a plan that works for them.
What's The Solution ?
Physiotherapists are trained to assess the root cause of your pain — not just manage it with rest or medications. In the early to moderate stages of arthritis, physiotherapy is the most effective, safest, and movement-friendly approach.
Improve Joint Mobility
Restore healthy, pain-free movement through guided exercises and techniques.
Strengthen Supporting Muscles
Build the muscles around your joint to reduce strain and increase stability.
Correct Muscle Imbalances
Fix uneven loading on joints to improve alignment and reduce wear.
Reduce Pain Naturally
Hands-on therapy and advanced modalities offer drug-free pain relief.
